Perseid Meteor Shower Dazzles Stargazers

Skywatchers across the globe are eagerly awaiting the peak of the annual Perseid meteor shower, which is set to illuminate the night sky with breathtaking celestial displays. The shower, known for its vibrant and frequent meteors, has already begun and will continue to captivate audiences until late August.

The Perseids, caused by Earth’s passage through debris left by Comet Swift-Tuttle, typically produce up to 100 meteors per hour at their peak. This year, the optimal viewing conditions will occur on the night of August 12 into the early morning hours of August 13.

To maximize the experience, stargazers are advised to find a dark, secluded location away from city lights. Patience is key, as the human eye takes about 20 minutes to adjust to the darkness.

While the Perseids are the main attraction, other celestial wonders like planets and constellations can also be enjoyed during these clear summer nights.
