Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant was further honored today with the unveiling of a second statue outside Crypto.com Arena. This comes just months after the first statue, a tribute to his legendary 81-point game, was revealed in February.
The new statue poignantly depicts Kobe with his daughter Gianna, tragically lost alongside him in a 2020 helicopter crash. The date of the unveiling, August 2nd, 2024 (8/2/24), mirrors the numerology of the first ceremony (2/8/24), a tribute to both Kobe’s jersey numbers (8 & 24) and Gianna’s number 2.
This marks the second of three planned memorials for Kobe Bryant outside the arena. Fans can visit the new statue starting this Saturday morning.
